A low-cost Dubai-based airliner started to fly between Dubai and Istanbul on Friday.

Flydubai will fly four times a week between the two cities.

"We are planning to increase flights in the future," Flydubai's CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith told a press conference in Istanbul.

Istanbul is the 19th destination of Flydubai.

One-way ticket costs at least 90 Euro between Dubai and Istanbul.

The company also plans to fly to two more Turkish cities in the future, one of which may be the Aegean city of Izmir.

The low-cost airline operating flights to, from and via Dubai, Flydubai is based at Dubai International Airport. All fares are one way and tax-inclusive.

The airline was founded in March 2008 by Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the chairman of Emirates Airline. Flights were launched with a service to Beirut, Lebanon in June 2009, and Amman, Jordan immediately after Beirut.

Flydubai plans to raise the number of its destinations to 30 by the end of 2010.
