Minister calls on Kuwaiti businessmen to invest in Turkey

The Turkish finance minister Wednesday called on Kuwaiti businessmen to invest in Turkey.

Turkey's Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek invited Kuwaiti businessmen to invest in several projects in Turkey, including 5 billion USD of health campus projects.

Simsek visited the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the sidelines of his visit to this country, and said Turkish businessmen could also take part in Kuwaiti projects.

"If we can bring the Kuwaiti capital together with dynamic Turkish companies, we can do successful things," Simsek also said.

Also, Kuwaiti chamber's chairman Ali Mohammed Thunayan Al-Ghanim said Kuwaiti businessmen had invested over 10 billion USD in Turkey in recent years and that figure had to be raised.

Al-Ghanim said Kuwait was ready to work with Turkish constructive companies, and Turkish contractors were preferred in his country.

It would be great if the two countries undertook joint projects in other countries, Al-Ghanim said.

Al-Ghanim suggested that Turkey send its health projects to Kuwait, and said two countries could sign agreements after Kuwait scrutinized the projects.

Earlier, Simsek met Kuwaiti Prime Minister Nasir al-Muhammad al-Ahmad al-Sabah.

He is also set to meet Kuwaiti Amir Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah, Finance Minister Mustafa al-Jassim al-Shamali, and Commerce and Industry Minister Ahmad Rashid al-Haroun.

Minister Simsek will also have talks with executives of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce, and Kuwait Investment Authority.

Simsek is expected to return to Turkey on May 28.
