Turkey's minister of culture and tourism said on Monday that only Turkey made headway in tourism in 2010.

Culture & Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay, in an exclusive interview with the A.A correspondent, said negative impacts of 2009 economic crisis were seen in 2010. "Only Turkey among the leading 10 tourism countries made headway in 2010," he said.

"Every year, Turkey is having a progressive course above the world averages. It shows that Turkey develops in a stable way," Gunay added.

Gunay said Turkey recorded a 3 percent rise in tourism in 2009 despite a 4 percent regress in tourism sector in the world.

"Number of tourists visiting Turkey was 13 million in 2003. This figure exceeded 28 million in 2010. It shows that Turkey develops in a stable way," he underlined.

Gunay said Turkey had been preparing Thermal Tourism Master Plan to boost thermal tourism, adding that his ministry had many other projects.

Gunay said Ministry of Culture and Tourism was trying to facilitate work of tourism sector, "we are trying to find land to entrepreneurs. We are also trying to bring some facilities in employment and energy," he said.
