Nabucco confirms no change in time table

Nabucco Gas Pipeline International has confirmed Thursday that the first flow of natural gas will take place in 2014 as planned.

In a written press release, Nabucco Director General Reinhard Mitschek confirmed that the construction of the natural gas pipeline will begin in 2011 and that the first flow of the gas will take place in 2014.

There has been no change in the time table of the Nabucco Gas Pipeline Project, Mitschek underlined.

The pipeline will be filled with natural gas step by step. We will reach a maximum capacity of 31 billion cubic meters per year as of 2018, Mitschek said.

Turkish Parliament approved March 4 a bill on a deal signed by Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Turkey to launch Nabucco pipeline project which will link Europe to the Caspian Sea region.

The project is considered a key to reduce Europe's energy dependence on Russia.

Under the law approved by the parliament, Nabucco pipeline will carry Caspian natural gas to Austria through Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary.
