Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit China on May 20 to discuss closer energy and trade ties between the two countries, the Kremlin said Tuesday.
The official statement underlined that the visit will mark a new phase of strategic cooperation between Russia and China. Putin is due to attend the 4th Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Summit in Shanghai on May 21.
A 30-year agreement to export nearly 40 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China is expected to be signed during the visit.
Russia, under the threat of sanctions from Europe and U.S. amid the crisis in Ukraine, has been trying to create a financial bulwark by seeking new energy markets in Asia.Güncelleme Tarihi: 13 Mayıs 2014, 14:25
