Share of foreign-made cars in total car sales in Turkey was up by 15 percent in 2010 over a year earlier, data showed.

Seventy percent of cars sold in Turkey in 2010 was manufactured abroad with the number reaching 354,150 out of 509,784 in total, according to data provided by Turkey's Automotive Distributors' Association (ODD).

Automotive sector in Turkey saw a record high sale of nearly 761 thousand vehicles last year, marking a 36.58 percent increase. Number of cars and light commercial vehicles sold in 2010 surged by 37.85 percent and 34.07 percent, respectively.

Sale of cars manufactured in Turkey claimed a share of 30 percent with 155.634. Renault was the market leader with 75,834.

In imported cars, Ford was the market leader with 55,212.
