Turkey's Minister of Customs and Trade Hayati Yazici stated on Friday, "allegations that Turkish-Egyptian shipping trade stopped or slowed down are groundless."
According to the written statement of Customs and Trade Ministry,Yazici pointed out that the news about stopping "ro-ro transport" from Turkey to Egypt was not correct.
Yazici said that the most part of the ro-ro shipment between Turkey and Egypt was made in southern Mersin and Iskenderun ports, adding, "The ro-ro shipments from Mersin port have been transported to Iskenderun port due to some reasons of domestic free market economy. Apart from this, allegations that Turkish-Egyptian shipping trade stopped or slowed down were groundless."
Our traders were negatively affected from Syria crisis
Yazici also stated that Turkish traders, engaged in transportation, logistic, and commerce, were negatively affected from the process in Syria.
Yazici said that they had taken new security measures at the Cilvegozu border gate, saying that the Cilvegozu border gate would be renovated within the scope of build-operate-transfer model.
14 people were killed and 25 others were wounded in a blast which occurred when a vehicle full of explosives went off at the Cilvegozu border gate on February 11, 2013.
