Syria lifted a ban on jewelery and precious metal imports from Turkey, a Turkish trade organization said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the southern province of Mersin (MTSO) said that the decision of Syrian government has taken effect.
Murat Karteper, an official of MTSO, said that recent decision would be a great opportinity for Turkish jewelry makers in other southern provinces such as Adana, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, Hatay and Mardin, who are famous for their handcrafted fine jewelry.
Karteper said lift of the ban would help large-scale Turkish jewelry companies enter Syrian market to open stores and boost Turkish exports to Syria.
