National Coalition of Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, the main umbrella organization of Syrian opposition groups met in Istanbul on Thursday to choose an envoy that will represent them in a planned international peace conference in Geneva to find a settlement to the Syrian civil war.

The opposition groups' meeting is expected to last for two days. The Syrian National Coalition will also discuss the future of the interim government.

The 114 members of the Syrian National Coalition will make a slate to elect the interim president of the coalition along with vice-presidents and the secretary general on the first day of the meeting.

Ghassan Hito was elected as the interim president of the Syrian National Coalition in March 2013.

No date has been set for the Geneva peace conference.
