Iraqi President Jalal Talabani invited the Union of Chambers & Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) to Iraq, asking for more investments from Turkey to his country.

TOBB Chairman Rifat Hisarciklioglu told A.A on Sunday that Talabani was recently in Turkey to attend a summit of Economic Cooperation Organization, and they held a meeting with the Iraqi president.

Hisarciklioglu, quoting Talabani, noted that the investments of Turkish companies in Iraq increased, adding that 600 Turkish companies were making business worth of 8 billion USD in that country. He recalled that the airports in Irbil and Sulaymaniyah were constructed by Turkish companies.

Talabani recalled that Turkish companies also built Suleymaniyah University as well as two cement factories in Suleymaniyah and Talafar, said Hisarciklioglu.

He said that Talabani wanted more investments from Turkey and to make more trade.

Hisarciklioglu said that Talabani invited a delegation from TOBB to Iraq to visit Irbil, Suleymaniyah, Mosul, Kirkuk, Baghdad, Najaf and Basra as well as to meet representatives of the business world and local authorities.

TOBB will assess this invitation, he added.
