Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan has said that in the scope of increasing the trade there will be additional ro-ro journeys between Turkey and Egypt.
On the occasion of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi's visit to Turkey, Union of Chambers & Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) hosted a Turkish-Egyptian Business Forum meeting in Ankara.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Caglayan stressed that the growing of economic relations between Turkey and Egypt cannot be only achieved with trade industry, moreover, there has to be research completed for businessmen of both countries to cooperate in third country.
Caglayan explained that the trade relations between Turkey and Egypt reached significant figures and added that in the first eight months of 2012, trade volume between two countries reached 3.5 billion USD and said that in a short period of time, figures of trade volume between two countries can reach 10 billion USD.
Turkish minister also added that Turkish businessmen did not leave Egypt at their worse times and said, "Turkish factories in Egypt kept working during panic periods. Turkish businessmen played an effective role in the growing of Egyptian economy."
Zafer Caglayan stated that in the scope of increasing the trade with Egypt and keep continue trading with 13 countries via Syria, they held important workshops with the Egyptian government and said that after intensive working hours there will be additional ro-ro journeys to take start. Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan stated that the ro-ro journeys between Mersin-Damietta and Iskenderun-Damietta will take start soon.
Speaking at the forum, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Trade and Industry, Hatem Saleh stated that they supposed the trade volume between Egypt and Turkey would reach 5 billion USD by the end of 2012. He added that it is important for them to receive Turkish investments in Egypt and said that they are expecting more projects to take place in Egypt.
