Turkey agriculture producer prices reach highest in April

Highest year-on-year increase in producer prices in Turkey in April was recorded in agriculture sector with 29.9 percent (2003=100) as the monthly rise was 9.31 percent, according to data released on Monday by TurkStat, Turkey's statistics authority.

The PPI change in 12-month average was 10.25 percent and the rise in the first four months of 2010 was 19.87 percent in the agriculture sector.

The year-on-year rise in producer prices index (PPI) in the industrial sector was 6.47 percent and the monthly figure was 0.83 percent.

The increase in industrial sector in 12-month average and in the first four months of 2010 was 0.9 percent and 3.98 percent, respectively.

The highest year-on-year rise in consumer prices index (CPI) in April was in alcoholic beverages and tobacco with 43.03 percent, which was followed by transportation prices with 14.72 percent and food and non-alcoholic beverages with 11.76 percent. Housing prices increased by 6.14 percent.
