Capacity utilization rate in manufacturing industry increased 7.9 points to 75.6 percent in December, 2010 when compared to December, 2009.

Central Bank stated on Tuesday that the capacity utilization rate dropped 0.3 points in December when compared to November, 2010.

In December, 2009, capacity utilization rate was 67.7 percent, while it was 75.9 percent in November, 2010.

Capacity utilization rates in product groups increased 8.6 points to 73.4 percent in "Durable Consumer Goods", 5.9 points to 74.7 percent in "Non-durable Consumer Goods", 6.4 points to 74.5 percent in "Consumer Goods", five points to 73.3 percent in "Food & Beverages", 9.5 points to 78 percent in "Intermediate Goods" and 14.7 points to 70.9 percent in "Investment Goods" in December, 2010 when compared to December, 2009.

Data on the capacity utilization rate of manufacturing industry, which are being compiled and disseminated by Central Bank as of January 2010, are calculated based on the responses of the local units operating in the manufacturing industry to the "Business Tendency Survey (BTS)" of CB.

The capacity utilization rates, calculated for the overall manufacturing industry and the sub-sectors, are the weighted averages of the actually realized capacity utilization rates of the respondent local units as per their physical capacities.
