Turkey earned nearly 1.2 billion USD of income from hazelnut exports in the first ten months of the export season that began in September 2009.

The Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters' Association said Thursday Turkey exported 190,949 tons of hazelnuts between September 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010 and earned 1.2 billion USD from its exports.

Turkey exported 142,888 tons of hazelnuts to European Union (EU) member states, 21,610 tons to non-EU European countries, 16,219 tons to overseas countries, and 10,232 tons to other countries.

In the same period of the previous season (September 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009), Turkey exported 215,663 tons of hazelnuts and earned 1 billion USD.
