Turkish Industry & Trade Minister Nihat Ergun said on Tuesday that they were working on encouragement of use of domestic products.
We are cooperating with relevant institutions to encourage the use of products which are produced in Turkey in all sectors and especially in the area of the generation and distribution of electricity, said Ergun who spoke at a meeting in Istanbul on the progress of a strategy paper on the electric & electronics industry.
Ergun noted that long-term vision of Turkish industry strategy was to be Eurasia's production, product and service base of medium and high technology products. He added that the vision of electric and electronic sector was to be the research & development and production base in the region and to be influential in world market.
He said that electric and electronics sector targeted to make 45 billion USD of exports in 2023.
Ergun said that total exports by electric-electronic sector in the world reached 2.78 trillion USD in 2008. He added that despite the rising trend in Turkish exports, the share Turkey took from global exports was only 0.37 percent, thus, all companies should attach high importance to exports.
We aim to increase the sector's exports from 10 billion USD to 45 billion USD by 2023.
