Marc Pierini, the head of the EU delegation to Turkey, said on Friday that Turkey and EU should continue economic growth by creating more employment and boosting social cohesion.
European Investment Bank (EIB) allocated 150 million euros of loan for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Turkey by cooperation with the EU.
Pierini said that SMEs sometimes had problems in reaching finance and the recent economic crisis made it worse. EU has supported a numerous of initiatives for SMEs to reach finance easily, he said.
Pierini added two third of direct foreign investments to Turkey came from the EU.
The financial assistance of EIB to Turkish SMEs has reached 2.5 billion euros in the last two years, EIB Vice President Matthias Kollatz-Ahnen said.
