Turkey's state minister Zafer Caglayan said on Saturday that Turkey targeted 500 billion USD exports in 2023.

Speaking at a meeting held in southern province of Hatay, Caglayan said Hatay was the engine province of Turkey in fresh fruits and vegetables. He said Hatay made the highest fresh fruits and vegetables exports last year with 1.7 billion USD and ranked the 9th province.

"Agriculture is one of the sectors that is most supported in Turkey. 5.8 billion TL support was made to agriculture sector last year. Agriculture meets 25 percent of employment in Turkey. To this end, all the opportunities should be assessed to boost agriculture sector," Caglayan said.

Caglayan said Turkey was the 4th biggest producer in agriculture in the world after China, India and the United States.

He said Turkey made 1.9 billion USD fresh fruit and vegetable exports last year.
