Turkey offers Kazakhstan educational cooperation

Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Monday Turkey would support all educational cooperation with Kazakhstan.

Such a cooperation is vital not only for the development of our two countries but also to carry the feelings of friendship and brotherhood to new generations, Gul said.

President Gul visited the Hoca Ahmet Yesevi International Turkish-Kazakh University where he attended a ceremony to inaugurate the Medical Faculty building. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev was also present at the inauguration ceremony.

Later, Gul and Nazarbayev attended a ground breaking ceremony for a library at the university.

After visiting the Museum of Turkish World, Gul proceeded to a ceremony in which the Hoca Ahmet Yesevi International Turkish-Kazakh University presented the title of honorary professor to Gul.

Speaking at the ceremony after receiving the title of honorary professor, Gul said that he was excited to be in Turkestan and the Hoca Ahmet Yesevi University.

Receiving the title of honorary professor from the Hoca Ahmet Yesevi University carries a special meaning, Gul said.

Relations between Turkey and Kazakhstan are friendly, brotherly and "exceptional", Gul stressed.

Reminding that a Turkish Council was established under an agreement signed in Nakhchivan by Turkish countries last year, Gul said that the Turkish Academy, an organ of the Turkish Council, will be inaugurated in Astana.

Nazarbayev made great efforts for the establishment of the Turkish Council and for development of relations in the Turkish world, Gul noted.

Nazarbayev, in his part, said that there were many areas that united Turkey and Kazakhstan.

"Our past is common and so are our wishes. We will carry our brotherhood to the future," Nazarbayev said.

Turkey is Kazakhstan's trustable strategic partner, Nazarbayev also said.
