Turkey's stock exchange dropped 0.30 percent, or 282.27 points, to open at 94,477.37 points on Monday.
The banking sector index dropped 1.15 percent, while the holding sector rose 0.19 percent.
Among all sector indices, the sports sector index posted the best performance, up 0.65 percent, while the telecommunications sector index did the worst, losing 1.33 percent.
Last week, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 closed Friday at 94,759.64, up 0.36 percent, or 340.49 points, with a trading volume of 9.15 billion Turkish liras ($1.5 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rose to 6.2710 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday. It was 6.1350 at Friday's close.
The euro/Lira exchange rate also climbed to 7.2930 by market open -- from 7.1620 at the previous close -- and one British pound traded for 8.2110 Turkish liras versus 8.0540 at the previous close.
