Turkey says sensitive on trade with Iran

Turkish State Minister Hayati Yazici said Monday that Turkey was sensitive on trade with Iran.

Minister Yazici met with Secretary Janet Napolitano of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as part of his talks in Washington, D.C. on Monday.

Speaking to reporters in a press conference held at the Turkish Embassy in the U.S. capital, Yazici said, in regard to the U.S. decision to put certain Turkish companies on a black list for doing trade with Iran, that Turkey was sensitive on trade with Iran.

We can not have an attitude to ignore our responsibilities stemming from international agreements. Those who ignore agreements will not be given an opportunity by Turkish customs and all public administrations, Yazici said.

In reference to his meeting with Napolitano, Yazici said that, as in other areas, Turkey and the U.S. will continue to exchange information on illegal drug trafficking and nuclear smuggling.

Today, we underlined with Napolitano Turkey and the U.S.'s cooperation in such fields, Yazici said.

Minister Yazici will return back to Turkey on Saturday after visiting the states of Florida and California.
