Turkey says S.Korea nuclear deal has problems

Turkish energy minister said on Tuesday that there were five or six problems regarding nuclear power plant cooperation protocol signed by Turkey and South Korea.

Turkey and South Korea signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in nuclear energy regarding the power plant which is planned to be built in Turkey's northern province of Sinop.

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said that there were problems on financing, escalation, partnership structure and sharing of risks regarding the memorandum of understanding.

Yildiz said 27 nuclear power plants have been built in South Korea so far and this country was a good model in this area.

Replying to questions on problems about the nuclear power plant deal, Yildiz said, "there are some problems. It is not an ordinary matter. There are some risks for us, but we have to achieve it. It is not short-term, but a long-term one."
