Turkey says to set up Informatics Valley in Kocaeli

Turkey's Industry & Trade Minister Nihat Ergun said that the Informatics Valley would be established in Muallimköy in the northwestern province of Kocaeli.

Ergun told reporters on Thursday, "we decided to establish Turkey's informatics valley in an area of 4 thousand acres in Muallimkoy. The informatics valley will take place in the Gebze Higher Technology Institute. The second informatics valley will be established in Ankara and the third one in the western province of Izmir. Infrastructure of the first valley will be completed in 2011."

Upon a question about measures taken recently by the Central Bank to narrow the domestic demand, Ergun said, "those measures will not have negative impacts on investment and production. On the contrary, these measures will help domestic markets and finance sector to grow more healthily. "

Ergun said that foreign investments in Turkey would gain momentum in the second half of 2011. "There are Chinese, American and Korean enterprisers planning to invest in Turkey in different areas. There is also another foreign company palling an investment worth of 300 million USD in stainless-steel," he added.

He told reporters that the Justice and Development (AK) Party would come to power for the third time after the elections in 2011.
