Turkey surpasses EU in industrial production on annual basis in June

Turkey surpassed the European Union in industrial production on an annual basis with a 4.2 percent increase in June 2013  compared to the previous year.

Industrial production in the EU increased by 0.4 percent, followed by the Euro zone with a 0.3 percent increase in June 2013 compared to the previous year, according to the the figures of the Statistical Office of The European Commission (Eurostat)  and Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). 

The June industrial production in the EU rose by 0.9 percent on a monthly basis and 0.4 on an annual basis, while that in the Euro zone increased by 0.7 percent and 0.3 percent respectively compared to the same period of 2012. 

The industrial production in Turkey in June rose by 1.4 percent compared to May 2013 and 4.2 percent compared to the previous year.  

Ireland saw the fastest growth in industrial production in June 2013 with an 8.7 percent increase followed by Romania with 5.7 percent,  Poland with 3.1 percent and Germany with 2.5 percent, compared to May 2013. 

The industrial production on an annual basis in Romania rose by 9.6 percent, followed by Poland with a 5.3 percent increase, Estonia with 4.7 percent and Turkey with 4.2 percent. 

The Greek Cypriot administration's industrial production on an annual basis decreased by 17.2 percent, followed by 7. 7 in Sweden, 5.9 in Finland and 5.4 in Norway. 

The industrial production on a monthly basis decreased by 9.3 percent in the Greek Cypriot administration, 4.1 in Holland, 3.8 in Sweden and 2.8 in Portugal.
