Turkey targets $100 bln-trade volume with Russia in next 5 years

Turkish Energy & Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said on Wednesday that they targeted to reach 100 billion USD of foreign trade volume within the next five years between Turkey and Russia.

Turkish-Russian Intergovernmental Joint Economic Commission 10th term meeting began in Ankara. Yildiz and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin co-chair the meeting.

Yildiz said that they would discuss energy, agriculture, transportation and tourism issues during the meeting.

Noting that relations between the two countries were developing rapidly on a multidimensional level, Yildiz recalled that Russian president would visit Turkey next week and hold meetings with Turkish president and prime minister.

Yildiz said that he was pleased that the problems in commercial and economic relations between Turkey and Russia would be discussed in a detailed way during the meeting.

On the other hand, Sechin said that Turkey was one of the most important commercial partners of Russia.

Sechin said that Turkey and Russia were cooperating in energy issues such as nuclear energy, natural gas shipment, Samsun-Ceyhan oil pipeline, oil and oil products export and electricity.
