Turkey to hold tender for Zafer Regional Airport

Turkey's General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI) announced Tuesday a tender would take place on April 1, 2010 for the construction of the Zafer Regional Airport which will serve the provinces of Kutahya, Afyonkarahisar, Eskisehir and Usak.
DHMI's tender will take place based on the Build-Operate-Transfer model.

Zafer Regional Airport will be open to both domestic and international flights.

The construction of the Zafer Regional Airport is expected to be completed in two years.

The runway at the Zafer Regional Airport will be 3,000 meters long and its width will be 45 meters.

The Zafer Regional Airport will be situated within the boundaries of the western province of Kutahya and will be Turkey's fourth biggest airport behind Ataturk (Istanbul), Esenboga (Ankara) and Antalya airports.

The new airport in Kutahya is expected to boost tourism in thermal sites.

The tender at the DHMI will take place at 1000 hours on April 1. Bids for the airport tender will be given in closed envelopes.
