International Gypsy Conference will take place in Istanbul in 2012.
The conference that will be organized by the Gypsy Lore Society (GLS) will be hosted by Beyoglu Municipality.
GLS chairperson Elena Marushiakova and Beyoglu Mayor Ahmet Misbah Demircan signed the protocol on organization of the conference in a meeting in Istanbul.
After the signing ceremony, Demircan said that people from different cultures were living in Beyoglu district of Istanbul and the conference would focus on different aspects of Roma (Gypsy) people.
The conference is expected to be held in Istanbul in September 2012 and it will last three days.
The Gypsy Lore Society was founded in Great Britain in 1888 to unite persons interested in the history and lore of Gypsies and rovers and to establish closer contacts among scholars studying aspects of such cultures.
