Turkish and Turkish Cypriot governments are set to sign an agreement to proclaim 2011 as "The Turkish Cypriot Year in Turkey" in a bid to promote tourism industry on the island's north, Turkish Cypriot prime minister has said.

Irsen Kucuk told a press meeting on Monday that the agreement is scheduled to be signed on December 27 at a ceremony in the Turkish capital of Ankara, with the participation of representatives from the tourism sector.

Kucuk said the agreement was expected to make a significant contribution to the Turkish Cypriot tourism industry.

The Turkish Cypriot premier said country's new flag carrier airlines company would be established on Thursday

Kucuk said 60 percent of the new air carrier's shares would be held by the government, 30 percent by the government and 10 percent be owned by Turkish Airlines, or THY, Turkey's state-run carrier.
