Turkey has set out plans to build its first airport on the seaside between the Black Sea Region provinces of Ordu and Giresun in northern Turkey and is expected to spend 167 million TL (approx. 91.8 million USD).

Turkey is expected to spend 120.6 million TL (approx. 66.2 million USD) for infrastructure works and 46.3 million TL (approx. 25.4 million USD) for superstructure works. Turkey aims to finish the infrastructure works in 2013 and there will be a tender at the end of 2013 for superstructure works.

The construction of Ordu-Giresun Airport, Turkey's first airport to be built on the sea, had started in 2011.

The total budget of the project is 230.5 million TL (approx. 126.6 million USD). The infrastructure works cost 162.7 million TL (approx. 89.3 million USD) and the superstructure works cost 67.7 million TL (approx. 37.2 million USD). The infrastructure works were started in 2012 and 35.6 million TL (approx. 19.6 million USD) was spent. The infrastructure works are planned to be finished by the end of 2013 and 120.6 million TL (approx. 66.3 million USD) is expected to be spent.

Ordu-Giresun Airport which will be the first airport on the sea in Europe and the fourth in the world will be between Samsun's Airport and Trabzon's Airport and it will be 170 km far away from the two airports.

There will be a 31 thousand square meters indoor areas. The construction of the airport is planned to be finished in 2014.

The airport will be able to handle 2 million passengers annually.
