Turkish State Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said on Monday that Turkey assumed the role of a bridge between the East and the West.
"Turkey is the gate of the East opening to the West and the guide of the West in the East," Arinc said while addressing the Turkey-Cambodia Business Forum organized by Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON) and Cambodian Trade Ministry.
Arinc said his visit was important in terms of showing the level of cooperation between Turkey and Cambodia.
Around 150 Turkish businessmen dealing with contractor services, jewellery, textile, iron and steel and tourism met with businessmen of Cambodia to assess opportunities of cooperation and joint projects.
"Turkey, assuming the role of a bridge between the East and the West, became the door of the East opening to the West and the guide of the West in the East. Turkey became a 'rising economy' and became the 6th biggest economy of the world when compared with the other EU member countries," Arinc said.
Arinc said Turkey started to attach a special importance to Asia-Pacific region. "Necessary efforts should be exerted to reflect positive political relations to economy and trade," he said.
Arinc said the business forum would help boost partnerships between the businessmen of the two countries, adding that, "as the Turkish party, we attach importance to formation of a Business Council mechanism between Turkey and Cambodia soon."
