Turkey wants to join housing projects in Algeria

Turkey's foreign trade minister Zafer Caglayan said Tuesday that Algeria plans to build 1 million homes in the next four years and added that Turkey wants to build half of that amount.

After his meeting with Algerian Housing & Urban Development Minister Noureddine Moussa, Caglayan said Algeria would spent nearly 180 billion USD for urban infrastructure and superstructure works in the coming years.

"We want Turkish contractors to take part in this housing project in Algeria," Caglayan said.

He also said that total amount of business done by Turkish contracting firms in Algeria have reached 5.1 billion USD.

Currently, Turkish firms have investments worth 500 million USD in this country Caglayan said.

Visiting minister Moussa said that his country was eager to improve relations especially on construction, contracting and counseling services.

Moussa said Algeria needed Turkey's experiences about how to carry out such housing projects and how to train Algerian workers
