Turkey's leading defense industry company ASELSAN increased its net profit sevenfold in 2009 when compared to 2008.

According to a report of ASELSAN, the company's net profit rose nearly sevenfold from 29.6 million Turkish liras (TL) to 215.9 million TL. (1 USD = 1.53 TL)

ASELSAN's net sales in 2009 was 572 million USD; and 59.5 million USD of this figure was obtained from exports.

The company's annual turnover also rose 47 percent from 705.9 million TL in 2008 to 1 billion 37 million TL in 2009.

ASELSAN, which made its first export in 1984, now exports products to 36 countries.

The company spent 39 million USD on research and development last year.

3,531 personnel are working at ASELSAN, and 54 percent of them are engineers.

ASELSAN, which was established in 1975 after Cyprus Peace Operation to meet communication need of Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), takes place among top hundred most
prestigious defense industry companies of the world today.

ASELSAN has 3.8 billion USD of long-term orders for 2009-2018 period.

The value of the company reached 921 million USD in the end of 2009.

Starting with the aim of creating a self-sufficient industry primarily for defence requirements of TSK, ASELSAN, with tremendous success in the last 30 years in expanding systematically into the local and global markets, today, has become a high technology, multi-product defence electronics company by introducing state-of-the-art equipment and systems solutions for both military and professional applications. ASELSAN is organized in four main divisions: Communications Division (HC), Radar, Electronic Warfare and Intelligence Systems (REHIS), Defense Systems Technologies (SST), and Microelectronics, Guidance & Electro-Optics Division (MGEO).
