Exports from Turkey's automotive industry to Russia skyrocketed last month by 1016 percent to $73.8 million, according to figures from a regional union of automotive exporters in Turkey.
The industry came first with a turnover of $11.5 billion that marks a 15 percent share in Turkey's overall volume of exports which saw an increase of 12 percent in December 2010 to reach $1,793 million.
Exports of cars claimed the largest share in December 2010 with $560 million and the annual figure went up to as high as $6.2 billion.
Exports in the Turkish automotive by-products industry came second with a revenue of $5.4 billion that marked an annual increase of 9 percent.
The biggest buyer of Turkish automotive products in 2010 was France with $2,354 billion albeit marking a 24 percent drop on year-on-year figures.
Exports to Spain and Russia were up by 66 percent and 143 percent, respectively.
European Union member countries claimed a share of 71 percent with a five percent year-on-year increase and $11.2 billion turnover.
