Turkey's automotive sector targets to make 18 billion USD of export in 2011.

Automotive Industry Exporters' Union (OIB) Chairman Orhan Sabuncu told A.A on Monday that the sector became the leader of export with 17.3 billion USD in 2010.

Automotive sector has been the leader of Turkey's export for the last four years, said Sabuncu.

Noting that automotive sector made export to 170 countries in 2009, Sabuncu said that the number of countries increased to 180 in 2010, adding that their target was to reach an export figure of minimum 18 billion USD in 2011.

Sabuncu said that the government had two important strategy documents which were Automotive Industry Strategy Document and 2023 Automotive Industry Export Strategy Document of Industry & Trade Ministry.

These two documents should be discussed and rapidly be a government policy so that we can fulfill our long-term targets, he added.
