Turkey's automotive exports down by 11.7 pc in June

Exports of Turkey's automotive sector, considered the propelling force behind Turkey's export based economy, fell 11.7% in June.

Data by Uludag Exporters Union, based in Bursa, the heart of Turkey's auto industry, revealed a five month surge in automotive exports came to an end with a 11.7% decline in June.

Despite this fall, the sector closed the first half of the year with a 19.7% year-on-year rise as exports totalled USD 8.232 billion .

Passenger cars ranked highest among export items, in H1 with USD 3.333 billion.

The exports rose 44.1% in January, 39.6% in February, 38.1% in March and 20.6% in April and 4.4% in May.

The sector made exports to 155 countries and 11 freezones among which France was the biggest importer of automotive products with 1.413 billion.

France was followed by Italy, Germany and England and Spain.
