Turkish media group Doğan Holding said it has received a bill of TL 61.6 million for taxes and penalties from the tax office.

In a written statement released through the Public Disclosure Forum (KAP) of the İstanbul Stock Exchange (İMKB) on Monday, Doğan Holding said they have received a notice from the tax office concerning unpaid corporate tax, value added tax (KDV), withholding tax and stamp duty totaling TL 18.2 million and a fine of TL 43.4 million for the years 2005-2008.

Doğan Holding says immediate payment is not required and that they will consult legal advice about the received bill. “We will use our rights to investigate this issue since we think that all of our tax payments are in line with the legal regulations in effect,” Doğan Holding said in a statement to KAP.

Doğan Holding is one of the top industrial conglomerates in Turkey with operations in the media -- Doğan Yayın -- industry, trade, insurance and tourism industries.
