According to International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), the data indicated Turkey has increased its workforce by 4.7 million people since the global economic crisis started to show its effects world-wide. (between 2008 and November 2013)
Turkey took first place among 32 countries in the developed and the developing countries in increasing its workforce size.
The jobless rate in Turkey reached 9.9 percent with a 0.5 percentage point increase in November 2013 in comparison to a year earlier.
The labour force participation rate (LFPR) is 50.5 in Turkey.
In November 2013, the non-agriculture unemployment rate reached 12 percent with a 0.3 percentage point increase and the youth unemployment rate reached 19.3 percent with a 0.5 percentage point increase
According to Eurostat, the region's statistics office, the Europe-wide statistics hide huge differences between economies. The lowest rates of unemployment are in Austria, with 4.9 percent, and Germany, Europe's biggest economy, with 5.0 percent.
Greece had the highest unemployment rate at 28 percent; followed by Spain at 26 percent. Greece and Spain have been the worst hit by the financial crisis, with more than half of those under 25 in both countries out of work.
The youth jobless rate in the wider EU fell to 23.4 percent from 23.7percent.
