Head of the regional administration in Iraq's north Massoud Barzani met on Saturday with Umit Boyner, chairwoman of the Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD).
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Boyner said TUSIAD would re-launch the Iraqi Working Group with a view to develop trade relations and investment opportunities.
Boyner said TUSIAD considered Iraq's north as a major market that involves "serious potential" for the development of both sides of the border between Turkey and Iraq.
Also participating in the meeting, the regional administration's Minister for Industry and Trade Sinan Celebi said that Iraq's north provided a safe environment for foreign investments.
Celebi said share of Turkish firms in foreign companies operating in northern Iraq had climbed to 60 percent from 45 percent just over the last six months.
Celebi said Turkey's national air carrier, the Turkish Airlines, would launch flights between Istanbul and Irbil as well as between Ankara and Irbil.
