Turkish Airlines (THY) has become a world brand, director general said on Friday.

THY's Director General Temel Kotil, who is visiting Beirut, Lebanon for a meeting, told the AA that THY has become one of the airline companies which made the highest profit in the world.

Kotil said THY is an airline company which made high-class travels with affordable price.

THY attached a great importance to Beirut and the airlines had two flights there a day, he said.

Kotil said he had a meeting with investors and representatives of companies which had the potential of becoming a shareholder of THY in Beirut.

THY is a member of Star Alliance.

THY flies to 121 international and 37 domestic destinations with its 159 planes.

The airline's main base is at Ataturk International Airport, with secondary hubs at Esenboga International Airport, Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, and Adnan Menderes Airport. In 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, THY carried 17 million, 19.7 million, 22.5 million and 25.1 million passengers with total revenues of US$2.23, US$3.0, US$4.5, and US$4 billion, respectively.

The airline has more than 12,000 employees.
