Turkey's national airline company said on Tuesday that there was not a decision for a strategical partnership with any airlines company.

The Turkish Airlines (THY) told a statement that some news reports appeared in some local and foreign broadcasting organizations that THY would establish a joint airlines company with Aeroflot.

The statement said, "although there is not an executive board decision to establish strategical partnership with any airlines, our partnership is open to make use of opportunities within the scope of growth strategy."

Based in Istanbul, Turkish Airlines is one of the fastest growing and prosperous airlines in the world. It carries approximately 25 million passengers a year, with direct flights to 120 international and 37 domestic destinations.

The airline was founded in 1933 with a fleet of five airplanes that carried a total of 28 passengers. The airline made its first domestic flight in 1933 and the first international flight in 1947.

THY is sponsor of FC Barcelona, Manchester United soccer teams and greek basketball club Maroussi as well as 2010 Euroleague-Final Four organization.
