Total sales in Turkish automotive industry in January-June period 2010 rose 2.4 percent over the same period of 2009.

Automotive Industry Association (OSD) said sales of automobiles dropped a little in January 2010, but sales of light commercial vehicles increased 10 percent in the first 6 months of 2010.

The statement said total sales of automobiles, with the influence of the rise in sales of light commercial vehicles in Jan-June, rose 2.4 percent when compared with the figures of the same period in 2009.

The statement said rise in total automotive industry exports in H1 was 44 percent over the same period of 2009, and rise in automobile exports is 32 percent. The statement said total manufacture was 39 percent and automobile manufacturing was 27 percent.

Figures of Auto Distributers Association in June revealed a total of 289,000 vehicles (passenger cars and light commercial vehicles combined) were sold in H1, marking a 1.79% year on year rise.

Passenger car sales in the Turkish market dropped 1.79% down to 186,305 in H1, while sales of light commercial vehicles reached 91,950 marking a significant rise (9.91%).

A total of 60,896 vehicles were sold only in June (passenger cars and light commercial vehicles combined).
