The volume of loans by the Turkish banking sector increased to 955.6 billion Turkish liras in a week as of August 16, sector's regulatory authority announced on Monday.

On August 7, the credit volume had been 951.7 billion TL, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency of Turkey (BDDK) said.

According to the weekly bulletin of the BDDK, overall credits excluding the financial sector totaled 870.9 billion TL.

Consumer loans increased 0.40 percent in a week to reach 231.1 billion TL.
