Turkish C.Bank says inflation keeps dropping

Turkish Central Bank said on Monday that inflation was expected to keep decreasing in the next months.

The Central Bank released a statement in which it assessed the monthly and annual inflation figures for November 2010 announced by Turkish Statistical Board, TurkStat.

The statement said that in November 2010, consumer prices index (CPI) increased 0.03 percent and annual inflation dropped by 1.33 points to 7.29 percent.

It said unprocessed food prices decreased by 4.68 percent in November and falling trend was also expected to continue in December.

"Drop in meat prices also contributed to decrease in annual inflation in unprocessed good prices," the bank said.

Producer price index (PPI) fell by 0.31 percent and annual inflation was recorded as 8.17 percent based on PPI in November, it recalled.

"Inflation will keep dropping in the coming months and a limited rise is expected in annual core inflation," it added.
