Turkish mobile phone operator Turkcell is getting prepared to open a liaison office in China.

During a gathering with reporters in capital Ankara, Turkcell's Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Koray Ozturkler assessed his company's performance in 2010 and shared his expectations for 2011.

Ozturkler said that Turkcell closely followed the latest technological developments, and within this context, it had started manufacturing a 3G-compatible mobile phone in cooperation with a Chinese company.

Noting that the device had drawn remarkable interest in Turkey, Ozturkler said, "We will also open a liaison office in China in 2011. This way, we will be able to offer our customers better devices for much lower prices".

Ozturkler also said that Turkcell had been an "investment champion" in 2010.

The official said Turkcell's total investments in 2004-2010 term had reached 6.3 billion TL, adding the company had made a 796 million TL investment in 2010. (One TL equals 0.6406 USD).

Noting 3G technology have increased employment opportunities as well, Ozturkler said Turkcell, together with its subsidiaries and partners, had created an eco-system of nearly 50,000 employees.
