An envoy from Turkey will go to Canada and US to examine shale gas in July, said Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz on Monday.
Speaking at the ministry after he received board chairman and members of Natural Gas Distribution Companies Association of Turkey (GAZBIR), Yildiz said the envoy would do a research both in Canada and the US on how to extract shale gas.
Yildiz also said, according to a report by BBC, it was not possible for Turkey to start producing natural gas from shale before 2020. "It was an analysis by BBC based on International Energy Agency's data."
"Investments in energy sector are huge investments and your decisions about such investments can be put into practice in three, five or 15 years' time, and they can be implemented together with international capital," Yildiz said.
