Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM) Director Mehmet Buyukeksi on Monday announced that exports increased 0.6 percent in June 2013 to 11 billion 832 million USD compared to the same term of the previous year.

The automotive sector ranked first in exports of past 12 months with 1 billion and 805 million USD, followed by the garment industry sector with 1 billion and 448 million USD.

Total exports in January-June 2013 period was up by 2.5 percent when compared to the same term last year and reached a figure of 74.6 billion USD.

In regards to the exports figures for June, Turkey's Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan said, "I am expecting little more efforts from our exporters, I want them to focus on the primary and targeted markets announced by the Economy Ministry."

Caglayan released a written statement after the announcement of the export figures and reminded that according to TurkStat, exports in May reached 13.3 billion USD.

He added, in the first five months of the year, exports to 152 countries increased and stated, "What we saw today is that our export figures in June increased 0.6 percent and scored 11.8 billion USD. 2013 is different compared to previous years. There is a stability in foreign trade across the globe. We are not expecting a serious revival in the rest of the year."
