Turkish govt encourages business to mergers in foreign countries

Turkish State Minister Zafer Caglayan said Thursday they directed Turkish businesses to mergers in foreign countries.

In a press conference held on Turkey's new export strategy, Caglayan said that they encouraged Turkish businesses to buy out companies in foreign markets.

We have set up desks for various countries. 34 such desks made it possible for us to analyze 52 different countries' markets, Caglayan said.

We will increase the number of Turkish trade counsellors to 250 and the number of trade assistants would go up to 1,000 in the short term. We are working so that the number of trade centers of our ministry goes up to 20 from 4, Caglayan said.

The number of Turkish companies whose exports are worth over one million USD is 8,817. There are 108 Turkish companies whose exports are worth over 100 million USD each and these companies constitute 40 percent of all Turkish exports, Caglayan said.

We want to help grow the size of Turkish exporters, Caglayan also said.
