Turkish, Iranian ministers discuss cooperation on construction

Turkish Public Works & Housing Minister Mustafa Demir met Iranian Minister of Housing and Development Ali Nikzad in Ankara on Thursday.

The two ministers had their meeting as part of an earlier decision that was made to bring together Turkish and Iranian housing ministers at least twice a year to discuss cooperation opportunities especially in construction area.

Iranian delegation, led by Nikzad, includes bureaucrats as well as a large group of representatives of companies operating especially in construction industry. Iranian minister Nikzad said they aimed to bring closer private sectors of the two companies by the help of these visits.

Iran has recently launched a project to solve housing problem of the country. Nikzad said around 1.7 million homes were actually under construction in cities and villages.

Currently, two Turkish firms are building 25,000 homes in Iran. Nikzad said he would extend his personal help if Turkish firms faced any problems in Iran.

He also said that Turkey and Iran could work together on construction techniques and regulations, and exchange their experiences on construction.
