Turkey's state minister for foreign trade left on Sunday for Nigeria, the first stop of his African tour also covering Ghana and Equatorial Guinea.

Accompanied by a large group of businessmen, Zafer Caglayan will attend business forums and hold bilateral talks in these three countries during his four-day visit.

Caglayan's first stop will be Nigeria where he will meet Nigerian president, deputy president, oil minister, as well as defense and trade ministers. Caglayan will also deliver a speech at a meeting of the Turkish-Nigerian Business Council.

In 2009, trade volume between Turkey and Nigeria was slightly over 860 million USD and the figure was 669.5 million USD in the first ten months of 2010. Turkey's exports to Nigeria totalled 250 millon USD in 2009.

The Turkish minister will proceed to Ghana on Monday. Caglayan will meet Ghana's Deputy President John Dramani Mahama, Industry and Trade Minister Hanna Teteh and deliver a keynote speech at the Turkey-Ghana Business Forum.

In 2009, trade volume between Turkey and Ghana was 175 million USD. The volume reached 230 million USD in the first ten months of 2010.

On the last stop of his African tour, Caglayan will proceed to Equatorial Guinea on Tuesday. He will meet President Teodoro Obiang Mbasogo as well as ministers of trade and economy, mining, industry and energy, public affairs and infrastructure, transportation, as well ass technology and communication.

Caglayan will also participate in the Turkey-Equatorial Guinea Business Forum meeting.

The trade volume between the two countries stood at 20 million USD last year. In the first ten months of 2010, the figure reached 26 million USD.
