China on Wednesday pledged to expand its $3.8 trillion digital economy and create jobs in new sectors such as big data and artificial intelligence (AI).

In recent months, Chinese government departments and agencies like the National Commission for Development and Reform (NDRC) are affirming their commitment to long-term restructuring, which Beijing sees as a tool to support less traders and other growth leaders exterior.

China will make further strides in its digital economy, including the internet, big data, cloud computing and AI, NDRC said on Wednesday.

Those sectors will become new job-creating leaders by 2025, the state planner said.

China should begin a path of single support with the growth of unilateralism and trade protectionism, state-controlled President Xi Jinping quoted on Wednesday as he conducted a factory inspection visit to Heilongjiang province.
