Israel’s former intelligence chief was held at London’s Heathrow airport and questioned for 45 minutes due to a Turkish arrest warrant regarding his role in the Mavi Marmara incident.
9 Turkish citizens were killed by Israeli forces in international waters in May 2010 while attempting to deliver aid to the people of Gaza. Turkey has since tried a number of Israeli officials over their role in the incident in absentia.
After being held and questioned at the airport, Yadlin was allowed to enter the country. However, this is not the first such incident. Last month former Israeli Navy commander Eliezer Marom was also questioned as he tried to enter the UK, although he denied it was over his role in the Mavi Marmara massacre.
There were also calls to bring former Israeli defense minister Ehud Barak to the UK to face trial over war crimes, while Justice Minister Tzipi Livni had to cancel her trip to the UK after threats to arrest her on her arrival.Güncelleme Tarihi: 11 Kasım 2013, 10:12
